Place a chopped apple wedge and 8 bar spoons of blackcurrant jam into a milk pitcher
Add two stripes of orange zest, star anise, a cinnamon stick and a clove
Pour in 1.75 oz of apple juice, 7 oz of dry red wine and 0.75 oz of cognac
Stir while heating, but do not bring to a boil
Pour into a teapot
Serve on a base with a candle to prevent the cocktail from cooling
